Our Farm’s Regenerative Practices

RECYCLE, REPURPOSE & REUSE

Some examples include using rice hulls (the outer covering of rice grain) as sturdy, absorbant, fully recyclable bedding. Using organic poultry waste - repurposed into mulch and used to condition and improve the absorbant, nutrient rich soil.

PLANTING

Regenerate the land by growing! Planting trees and topiaries across unused farmland to improve soil health and air quality.

NO TILL

Areas of soil which are naturally and efficiently maintained by the existing Heirloom birds - which helps to maintain and improve the nutrient rich soil, while also improving soil water filtration.

SOLAR PANELS

The use of solar panels is to reduce fossil fuels and create a renewable, sustainable and less expensive energy source.

Pasture project chickens spend most of their time on rich, biodiverse soil that is full of nutrients and life giving organisms. The animals contribute significantly to healthier soil by stirring it up and naturally fertilizing. The soil responds by providing abundant plant, bug, and insect life for the animals to forage.

This is real, sustainable farming.

Good for Mother Earth.

Good for the animals.

Good for us.

Pasture Project chickens are authentic heirloom breed birds, which by their very nature are healthy animals. They live as nature intended, providing us with high quality, nutritional food.

Unlike conventionally raised breeds, they roam, forage and feed on nature’s bounty along with NON-GMO supplemental feed. Outdoor pasture as well as shade and shelter from weather and predators gives these heirloom chickens an opportunity to live their best lives.
